Rockwell Studio 5000 Software Released Strongly
(Milwaukee, March 5, 2018) The new enhanced Rockwell Software Studio 5000 integrated development environment was launched to help engineers design, build, and debug automation systems faster. The latest version of the software features a new user interface design that gives all Studio 5000 applications a unified, modern look while also providing a variety of update capabilities to help engineers increase productivity from design to deployment throughout the process.
The Studio 5000 Logix Designer application is updated for several programming languages and features a modern, structured text editor to help optimize design time. The text editor adds many new features after the update, such as collapsible code snippets and inline value monitoring for more efficient programming and editing.
"The improved version of the structured text editor has been significantly improved in ease of use to meet the needs of programmers with different skill levels," said Andy Stump, Rockwell Automation Business Manager. "Whether it is a current advanced user who uses structured text programming or a novice engineer who is just getting started, he can easily navigate this modern editor."
With the new Logix alarm feature on the tabs, engineers can easily add alarms to the structure and manage the structures in a unified environment to avoid the need for programming and help save time. This update also includes new driver safety instructions developed in accordance with the IEC 61800-5-2 standard and motion control instructions for extended motion support. In addition, the modern user interface provides multi-monitor support and tabbed views that help improve usability and reduce design time.
The Studio 5000 Logix Designer application also supports the new Allen-Bradley GuardLogix 5580 and Compact GuardLogix 5380 controllers. These high-performance tools provide users with a new choice for designing safety systems and can help reduce overall machine costs.
The Studio 5000 View Designer application now has data logging and trend analysis capabilities for easy troubleshooting. At the same time, engineers can use simulation capabilities to virtually debug and test applications to help reduce system development time and risk.
The system-level features of the Studio 5000 Architect application will help reduce design complexity and simplify the development process. For example, the updated version uses an open data exchange interface, AutomationML (Automated Markup Language), to enhance connectivity between Studio 5000 software and other engineering tools such as EPLAN Electric P8 and enable powerful data sharing.
The new Studio 5000 Application Code Manager Lite Edition is now available for download as a single-user version for smaller machine and equipment manufacturers. This version includes batch programming and library management functions, which can be downloaded for free. In addition, users can download and use the Standard Edition through annual payment.
To facilitate the user's development process, Rockwell Automation also added a Machine Builder library and process object library in the Studio 5000 Application Code Manager. Both libraries can be downloaded for free from the Product Compatibility Download Center (PCDC).
In addition to an improved user interface, the Studio 5000 Logix Emulate application now also provides an updated interface for connecting operator training systems such as Cape Software VP Link and MYNAH Mimic.
