Then there are always absent-minded friends, directly released to the current folder, although the project name does not have Chinese characters, but there are various errors in the path process, WINCC running archive database is not successful, data query has no content and so on. A lot of times I can't make it. If I look for help with a remote login, there will always be Chinese characters in it. Make me laugh and cry. Brothers, Chinese characters must be vigilant!


The WINCC software supported Chinese at an early stage. At the beginning, it was specially added with an Asian or Chinese version. Later, in the initial release, it announced a Chinese-supported multi-language. But how to count as supporting Chinese, ordinary users and operators can not know, but as a developer and maintenance engineer, you must know. The so-called support for Chinese, in fact, mainly refers to the final user interface. Users can use the Chinese interface completely seamlessly at work, with little or no need to use English.


This includes two aspects, one is the identification information of the project, the operation prompt, etc., and supports Chinese. These are what we entered in the development project. The second is the standard application of the system. In the dialog window of some controls, the interface appears to be translated into Chinese, and the system's help information is also available in Chinese.

But in the kernel part that is only visible to developers, you should never be superstitious that it will fully support Chinese. First and foremost, the grammar and protocol cannot be Chinese, and other functions, tag names, etc., may be Chinese-compatible in order to facilitate the developer's native language habits, but you still have to be careful in your work, always be alert, use There is no problem with English, but when using Chinese characters, there are inevitably errors. If the name of the figure is convenient, you don't need painful Chinese-English, English-Chinese translation. Before you intend to use Chinese, you should confirm it. In case the work has already started, after thousands of variables have been defined, they can't use Chinese, and only cry.



Not only WINCC and STEP7, but also software from foreign companies. Even the various software and hardware products from domestic software companies have their underlying code in English. Software engineers have a lot of problems with Chinese characters. Most of the tests they have done can be more, but Special applications that have problems, chaotic characters, etc. are also a headache.






The drawback of Chinese characters is brought from the bones. The expressions of Chinese characters are parallel, trying to express more information in one character as much as possible. The result is an increase in the variety of characters to the extreme. Expressed in the size of the font, the Chinese first-level font and the second-level font GB2312-80 contain 6763 Chinese characters, but they are far from enough in actual use. Because of the frequent use of uncommon words such as names and names, it leads to confusion. So later, there were more complete GBK and GB18030, and the number of Chinese characters collected reached more than 20,000, but still dare not take the chest to ensure that all Chinese characters are completely included. A computer system, as long as it encounters an unrecognizable Chinese character by chance, then the system has defects. Because there is a Kangxi dictionary behind, more than 40,000 words. You will never expect that more than 20,000 Chinese characters will come out.



For companies developing computer systems, the Chinese character set itself is the biggest burden. To have a micro-control system, the total memory capacity is only a few tens of kilobytes, and it is necessary to accommodate tens of thousands of Chinese characters. Before the calculation is started, most of the system resources are consumed first.


Some people think that the current computer system was born from the United Kingdom and the United States, and they were injected with English elements first, which led to the incompatibility of the Chinese character system, the need for external fonts, and the need for external input methods. Please, in the operating system in KB, you first express tens of thousands of Chinese characters, you are already exhausted! What does this have to do with Anglo-American? Moreover, the world is fully free to compete. If there is a possibility, you can start a new operating system programming language that is easy for the Chinese to use, and nearly 2 billion Chinese market! Others believe that in the future, computer systems will leap forward, quantum computer research and development will be successful, all calculations and capacity will be increased by orders of magnitude, system resources will no longer become short-board, and the difficulty of Chinese characters will no longer be a problem. Oh, the current personal computer, server, has long solved this problem from the capacity. But can you count on a single-chip, a small PLC, and a quantum computer? naive!


Even if it is 10,000 steps away, humans are willing to use quantum computers on small garage doors and TV remotes. However, Chinese kanji systems are more difficult to implement than English systems. Development engineers need to use English programming languages to develop design systems. The framework will not change. Then Chinese is always cumbersome and burdensome.
